Advanced nonlinear finite element analysis for complex engineering challenges

This training course provides a comprehensive introduction to nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) using Marc and its pre- and post-processing environment, Mentat.

Participants learn how to import CAD geometry, prepare and simplify models, generate high-quality finite element meshes, and define model components, including materials, properties, loads, boundary conditions, and analysis settings.

The complete simulation process is covered, from model preparation and solver execution to post-processing and interpretation of results. The physical and numerical sources of nonlinearity are explained, including geometric, material, and contact nonlinearities.

Best practices for creating robust contact models and selecting appropriate material models for engineering applications are introduced. Advanced modelling techniques are also presented, including adaptive remeshing and remeshing strategies for problems involving large deformations or severe mesh distortion. The course discusses practical approaches to improving solution accuracy and convergence for challenging
nonlinear analyses.
